Job Description
Production Test Engineer – Edinburgh – operations team. Permanent nightshift vacancy. Two shift patterns: Monday to Thursday nightshift (37 hours, 9.25 hour shifts, 30% shift premium) and nightshift (42 hours, 10.5 hour shifts, 40% shift premium). 4 on 4 off and basic salary apply.
Responsibilities
- Test and fault diagnosis of complex system level products and associated sub assemblies in a high technology aerospace and defence manufacturing environment.
- Carry out fault diagnosis to component level.
- Identify and pursue solutions to shortcomings with respect to test equipment, test methods and test documentation.
- Interpret and adhere to test specifications, technical drawings and circuit diagrams.
- Electrical safety testing, product acceptance testing, vibration and thermal testing, RF testing.
- Maintain effective and proactive communication with Project, Quality and Engineering functions.
- Ensure standard handover procedures and effective communication over all products.
- Responsibility for designated 5s areas, completed in line with daily/weekly/monthly sign off sheets.
- Work closely with Systems and Electronics engineers to solve real integration problems on complex systems.

Requirements
- HND or above in system, electrical or RF engineering.
- Understanding of electrical motors, gimbals and how they work.
- Strong understanding of measurement and test principles and equipment.
- Understanding of RF and microwave technology at subsystem level is an advantage.
- Experience with focusing cameras/optics and their effect at system level.
- Knowledge of safety precautions required when integrating or aligning electro mechanical devices.
- Applying statistical process control (SPC) for fault and trend diagnosis within a production environment.
- Experience working in clean rooms and understanding the importance of cleanroom conditions to product quality.
