JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated GI/Endo Technician to join our team. This role supports diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, ensuring a safe and efficient patient care environment. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of gastrointestinal procedures and equipment, along with excellent technical and interpersonal skills.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare and maintain endoscopy equipment, including scopes, light sources, processors, and accessories.
  • Assist physicians and nurses during endoscopic procedures (e.g., colonoscopies, upper endoscopies, ERCPs).
  • Clean, disinfect, and reprocess endoscopic equipment according to established protocols and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Manage inventory of supplies and equipment for the endoscopy suite.
  • Ensure patient safety and comfort during preparation, procedure, and recovery phases.
  • Document procedures and patient information accurately.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and escalate as needed.

SCHEDULE / SHIFT

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a Surgical Technologist program or equivalent training/experience.
  • Strong understanding of aseptic technique and infection control principles.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous experience as an Endoscopy Technician or Surgical Technologist in an endoscopy setting.
  • Familiarity with various types of endoscopic procedures and instrumentation.

CERTIFICATIONS

  • Certified Registered Nurse First Assistant (CRNFA) or Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) is preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

EXPERIENCE

Minimum of Insert Number, e.g., 1-2 years of experience in a healthcare setting, with a focus on endoscopy or surgical services.

SKILLS

  • Proficient in the setup and maintenance of GI equipment.
  • Knowledge of sterile processing and high-level disinfection.
  • Ability to anticipate physician needs during procedures.
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.

EMR / SYSTEMS

Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems is a plus.
