Support Worker / Befriender (Male)

Pay: £13.45 per hour
Provide support to a 34 year old gentleman who lives in his own home in Ayr. Responsibilities include personal care, various health activities, basic administrative support, and assistance with daily living activities. The employee will assist with mobility, using a wheelchair, and ensure the gentleman’s well being. Task requirements may change according to the employer’s needs.
Responsibilities
- Provide social support – attend local swimming pool, football games, walks, cinema, and other social events.
- Perform household tasks – prepare breakfast, lunch, and evening meals, make hot drinks and snacks, light cleaning, and laundry assistance.
- Carry out general tasks – shop for groceries, accompany the gentleman to shopping, and assist with other errands.
- Support the gentleman’s daily schedule, administration, and diary planning.
- Maintain confidentiality and respect the employer’s privacy.
- Assist with mobility in a wheelchair and manoeuvre assistance.
Qualifications
Previous caring role experience is advantageous but not required. Candidates must be male, demonstrate a genuine passion for providing excellent care, professionalism, and commitment. Must be a good swimmer if attending swimming pool sessions is requested.
Must hold a current clean driver’s licence if the employer’s vehicle is used – preferred.
Must be able to provide two up to date reference contacts and undergo a Protection of Vulnerable Groups Disclosure.
Employment Terms
May work up to 5.6 weeks of annual leave per contracted hours. Flexible shifts and additional work during staff leave or sickness may be required. 6 month probationary period with a one week notice during this period if the post is unsuitable.
Staff will work on an hourly basis in a personal employment relationship. The employer’s vehicle is available if they have a clean licence.
