Job Description

Job Title: Sub Agent – Scotland
Package: £40,000 – £50,000 per annum
I am recruiting on behalf of my client, a leading civil engineering contractor operating across Scotland and Northern England. Due to ongoing success and a strong pipeline of infrastructure work, they are looking to appoint an experienced Sub Agent to support the delivery of complex heavy civils projects.
This is a role for someone with a strong background in earthworks, drainage, highways, and reinforced concrete who is happy to work across multiple sites in Scotland. Accommodation and subsistence are provided when working away from home.
Responsibilities:
Take overall responsibility for specific sections of work, ensuring safe, timely, and high-quality delivery
Lead daily coordination of engineers, subcontractors, and site teams
Monitor progress against programme and resolve technical or logistical challenges on site
Review and manage documentation including RAMS, ITPs, and site records
Interface with the client, design teams, and senior management during progress and design meetings
Ensure work is carried out to spec and in accordance with health, safety, and environmental requirements
Support the Site Agent/Project Manager in delivering site objectives and managing resources effectively
Requirements:
Prior experience in a Sub Agent or experienced Site Engineer role on heavy civils/infrastructure projects
Strong technical knowledge of earthworks, deep drainage, highways, and concrete structures
Proficient with setting out, quality assurance, and construction methodologies
CSCS card, SMSTS, and First Aid essential
Temporary Works Supervisor and other relevant tickets desirable
Degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or related discipline
Strong leadership, communication, and client-facing skills
Full UK Driving Licence
Willingness to travel across sites in Scotland
Package:
£40,000 – £50,000 depending on experience
Car allowance + mileage
Accommodation & subsistence covered when working away
