This role is restricted to new postgraduate taught (PGT) students joining the University of Glasgow’s School of Social and Political Sciences for the 2026/27 academic year. Applicants must hold and have accepted an unconditional offer. Please confirm that you meet these criteria.
Job Purpose
As aStudentAmbassador for the SchoolofSocial andPolitical Sciences,you willrepresent theSchooland University ofGlasgowtoprospective studentsfrom the UK andaround the world.
Youmust be a currentmaster’s studentstudyingon a postgraduatetaught programmewithinthe School ofSocial and Political Sciences. What you will do:
You willsupportthe School’sStudentRecruitment and Marketing teambyattendingeventsonlineand in-person,speaking withprospective students,sharing yourexperiencesandansweringquestions.
A keyaspectofthisrole will beleveragingyourcreativity,experience,and expertiseto produce engagingcontentacross multiple channels,includingsocial mediareels,TikTok videos, long-form video content,andoccasional blog posts. You willcreateand deliver high-qualitycontentthat supports digital marketingand social mediacampaigns,helping to increase audience engagement and brand awareness.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Sharing your experiences of being a student at the School of Social & Political Sciences to help guide others in making their decision.
- Engagewith future students throughonline events,includingwebinars, mini lectures, and student panels,where you will shareyour experiencesof yourmaster’s programmeandstudentlife,participate in live Q&Asessions,andanswer questionsfrom prospective students.
- Attend in-person eventson anoccasionalbasis,representingthe school and University and answer any questions from prospective students.
- You will create interesting and easy-to-understand content like videos, and social media posts and occasional blogs to show what student life is like and promote the School of Social & Political Sciences.
- You will participate in photo and video shoots that showcase the student experience and support the School’s promotional efforts.
- As this is a casual worker role, you will have the chance to choose which content tasks you want to volunteer for each month in order to earn payment.
- You will have to submit your timesheets each month so we can make sure you get paid on time.
- You will report to the Student Recruitment Lead and the Digital Marketing Lead, who will review and approve your timesheets. Maintaining clear and regular communication will be key.
Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills and Experience Knowledge/Qualifications Essential:
A1Current student who is studying on a postgraduate taught(PGT)programme in the School of Social & Political Sciences
A2Enthusiastic about the University of Glasgow as a great place to study and the city of Glasgow as a great place to live
Desirable:
B1Basic understanding of popular social media platforms (such as Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn) and how they are used to share information and connect with others.
Skills Essential:
C1Excellent interpersonal and communication skills -friendly, professional and confident manner,comfortable with sharing your experiences as well as able to respond positively to questionsand tailor your responses when needed
C2Professional approach – you will be representing the University and should always be professional
C3Excellent time-management skills and reliability – the Student Recruitmentand Marketingteam need to make sure that they can rely on you to attend events on time, meet deadlines that are given and engage proactively with tasks
C4 Teamwork – able to work well with other ambassadors, staff, and faculty to achieve shared goals.
C5 Cultural awareness – respectful and inclusive when interacting with students from many different backgrounds.
C6 Initiative – willing to share ideas and take responsibility for tasks like creating content or supporting events
Desirable: Experience: Essential:
No previous experience required; full training will be provided.
Desirable:
F1Experience creating social media content for personal, academic, or community purposes.
Terms and Conditions
Salary will be Grade 3, £24,685 – £25,249 per annum pro rata.
This post is offered on a fractional basis and is fixed term until the 18th of November 2027
