Design Lead / Project Manager – Structural Engineering
First People Solutions is working with a leading consulting engineer who is looking to appoint an experienced Structural Design Lead / Project Manager to join their team. Our client specialises in structural design for high-hazard, industrial environments-including blast resistance, toxic hazards, and thermal hazard requirements.
They are seeking a Design Leader / Project Manager to oversee the delivery of technically complex building projects. This is a key leadership role, blending technical design, project delivery, team management, and client engagement.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a specialist consultancy and take on a hands-on leadership role in the delivery of safety-critical buildings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the delivery of multi-disciplinary structural projects from concept to detailed design
- Manage and mentor a team of structural engineers
- Oversee project planning, resource allocation, quality assurance, and commercial performance
- Build and maintain strong client relationships
- Lead tender submissions and contribute to business development
- Support the development of junior staff
What We’re Looking For:
- Chartered Engineer
- 5-10 years’ experience working within a design consultancy in the UK
- Proven track record in managing and delivering structural engineering projects
- Strong project leader with experience managing multi-disciplinary design processes, and confidently engaging with clients to scope and deliver work
- Sector experience in oil & gas, energy, manufacturing, or defence would be advantageous
- Strong commercial and technical project delivery skills
- Familiarity with RIBA stages and a solid understanding of CDM 2015 Regulations
