Staff Nurse – Ward 1/HDU (Ref: 251356)

Job Summary

Rotational post requiring both day and night shift working. Substantive, full time – 36 hours per week. Band 5 salary range £34,544 – £43,039 per annum, plus Distant Island Allowance of £2,578 per annum and relocation assistance of up to £8,000 available.

Working Environment

Our surgical ward provides care to adult and paediatric patients from a wide range of specialities including ENT, Ophthalmology, Maxillofacial, Dental, Orthopaedic, paediatric, as well as general surgery. The busy, diverse ward has 22 beds and incorporates a 2 bedded critical care unit.

Responsibilities

  • Provide all aspects of care for patients undergoing surgery, both as emergencies and list admissions.
  • Ensure that the environment is safe and effective for delivery of care to adults and children.
  • Deliver excellent care from admission to discharge.
  • Participate in ward audit, clinical quality indicators and safety cross data collection.
  • Be flexible to work in other areas of the organisation, either hospital or community based.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Registered General Nurse.
  • Interest in obtaining surgical care knowledge and experience.
  • Previous surgical experience advantageous but not required.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work well in a team.
  • Preferred: will join the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update prior to a formal offer of employment being made.
