Overview
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the United Kingdom, employing approximately 40,000 staff across a wide range of clinical and non clinical professions and roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health services to a population of over 1,150,000 people, and to a wider population of 2,200,000 when regional and national services are included.

The role
As a Specialist Physiotherapist (Band 6) within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, you will play a key role in delivering high quality musculoskeletal care across a diverse patient population. Working within one of the largest NHS organisations in the UK, you will join a supportive, forward thinking team committed to clinical excellence, innovation and continuous improvement. You will autonomously manage a varied caseload, providing assessment, diagnosis and treatment while contributing to service development and improvement initiatives.
All candidates are required to hold a valid HCPC registration.
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern
Duration: Permanent
Location: Various Greater Glasgow and Clyde hospitals
Hours: Full Time (36 Hours)
Working Pattern: Monday to Friday (08:30-16:30)
Key responsibilities
- Deliver specialist musculoskeletal physiotherapy, including triage, assessment, diagnosis, treatment and discharge planning
- Independently manage a complex and varied caseload while prioritising workload effectively
- Provide clinical leadership, supervision and support to junior staff, support workers and students
- Work collaboratively within multi disciplinary teams to ensure coordinated, high quality patient care
- Contribute to service development through audit, research and clinical effectiveness initiatives
- Deliver education, training and specialist advice to colleagues, patients and carers
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with professional, legal and organisational standards
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job
- Degree or diploma in Physiotherapy with current HCPC registration
- Minimum of four years post graduate experience, including at least two years within musculoskeletal physiotherapy
- Evidence of relevant postgraduate training and continuous professional development
- Working towards the completion of a postgraduate qualification in manual therapy
- Demonstrable advanced clinical reasoning skills and specialist MSK knowledge
- Experience of supervising, teaching or supporting staff and students
- Competence in IT systems, including patient management systems and standard software packages
