Overview

Base: Aberdeen Health Village, Frederick Street, Aberdeen. Hours: 21 hours per week. Temporary or Secondment (23 months). Aberdeen City HSCP is seeking a Community Nurse to join the neurodevelopmental pathway for children and families across Aberdeen City. The role supports a neuro-affirming, strengths-based model with early identification and timely, coordinated support in universal and community settings. You will work as part of an AHP-led multidisciplinary consultation approach within a “team around the child” model, partnering with education, health and third-sector colleagues to build shared understanding, support inclusive environments, and improve outcomes for children and families.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical input and contribute to collaborative narrative-building with children, families and professionals.
• Strengthen processes for gathering assessment evidence to enable consistent, high-quality decision-making during the Test of Change period.
• Help develop and deliver workforce learning in neuro-affirming practice, drawing on resources including the Scottish Government National Neurodevelopmental Specification, NAIT, and NHS Education for Scotland.
• Work within an AHP-led multidisciplinary consultation approach within a “team around the child” model, partnering with education, health and third-sector colleagues to build shared understanding, support inclusive environments, and improve outcomes.
• Support ongoing CPD, clinical supervision, and a quality improvement approach to service development, including modernising pathways and delivering person-centred care with a focus on prevention and reducing health inequalities; participate in student training.
• Drive or arrange essential transport as required by the role (car driver with full driving licence).

Qualifications

• Registered Community Nurse with experience of working with neurodivergent children and young people, or a strong commitment to developing this within a co-produced, system-wide improvement context.
