Temporary position starting on Monday 8th December 2025, ongoing until Friday 19th December 2025 then again in the New Year (dates to be confirmed)

Salary £21.00 to £23.00 per hour

Job Description

Phoenix Recruitment Services Ltd are currently recruiting for our client based in Ballachulish – Highlands, Scotland for an experienced Skid Steer Driver who focuses on the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of the equipment. The role requires operating the machine for various tasks on construction sites, agricultural settings, or other work areas.

You must be available to cover the whole assignment as required between 8th December & 19th December 2025 inclusive.

Core Responsibilities

  • Operation: Operating the skid steer loader to move, load, and unload materials such as dirt, gravel, or debris. This includes digging, grading, and trenching using various attachments (e.g., buckets, forks, augers, planers).
  • Safety Compliance: Adhering to all site safety regulations and protocols, including conducting operations in a manner that ensures the safety of the operator and others on the job site.
  • Pre-operational Checks: Performing daily equipment inspections (pre-operational checks) to ensure the machine is in good working order and identifying potential issues.
  • Maintenance: Cleaning, lubricating, and refilling the equipment as needed, and performing minor maintenance or assisting mechanics with major repairs.
  • Site Management: Maintaining a clean and organized work area and assisting with general site cleanup or manual labor as required.
  • Collaboration: Working with other team members, groundworkers, and site supervisors to complete projects efficiently and within established deadlines.

Key Skills and Qualifications

A successful skid steer driver needs to possess the following skills and qualifications:

  • Experience: Prior experience operating heavy machinery, specifically skid steer loaders.
  • Certification: Relevant operator certifications or licenses may be required depending on location and industry regulations.
  • Mechanical Knowledge: Basic knowledge of equipment maintenance and the ability to spot potential mechanical problems.
  • Physical Stamina: The role can be physically demanding and may involve working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Communication: Ability to communicate effectively with the site team and follow instructions
