Senior Workshop Technician

About the Role
An established engineering organisation within the oil and gas sector is seeking an experienced Senior Workshop Technician to join its Aberdeen operations team.
This is a hands-on, senior-level technical position focused on the assembly, testing, fault diagnosis, and maintenance of specialist oilfield equipment. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting engineering and product development activities while ensuring safe, efficient workshop operations.
Key Responsibilities

Assemble and test new and existing oilfield equipment.

Conduct fault-finding and implement effective corrective solutions.

Support product development activities through hands-on testing.

Participate in verification and validation testing programmes.

Maintain workshop equipment in good working order.

Ensure workshop housekeeping standards are maintained.

Verify that lifting equipment certification is valid prior to use.

Follow work instructions and technical procedures accurately.

Support offsite work at client or supplier locations when required.

Assist in preparing tools and equipment for specific tasks.

Work independently or collaboratively depending on project needs.

Adhere to all company policies and HSE procedures.
Required Qualifications & Experience

Minimum 5 years’ industry experience.

Proven experience working with one or more of the following:
-
Pressure Control Equipment (PCE)
-
Surface Wellhead Equipment (SWE)
-
Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD) Equipment

Experience conducting temperature testing to API specifications (preferred).

Strong mechanical aptitude and practical problem-solving ability.

Inspection experience advantageous.

Basic IT proficiency (Microsoft Word, Excel).

Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
