Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a leading commercial real estate consultancy in Edinburgh with the hire of a Senior Town Planner. This is a permanent and full-time position.

Our client employs over 1000 staff across 16 offices and provides services to a wide client base. Joining an experienced and respected planning team, you will undertake strategic projects nationwide, including exciting ventures like the development of new garden villages.

As a Senior Town Planner, you will be an integral part of the team, working on a diverse range of projects in both England and Scotland. From small-scale developments to large-scale strategic initiatives, you’ll have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact across various sectors.

Responsibilities of the Senior Town Planner role

  • Conducting professional work for clients and meeting reporting requirements within agreed deadlines.
  • Ensuring compliance with the company’s Best Practice standards.
  • Collaborating with colleagues across the UK, including travel for site visits and meetings.
  • Assisting junior staff members with their professional development.
  • Developing and maintaining client relationships to contribute to the team’s fee income targets.
  • Identifying and pursuing new business opportunities through networking and business development efforts.

Qualifications

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong organization and time management abilities.
  • Sound knowledge and experience of English and Scottish planning systems.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications and IT skills.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Relevant qualifications and membership in professional planning or surveying bodies.
  • A valid driving license or the process of obtaining one.
