Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established construction business delivering a diverse portfolio of high-value projects across Scotland. The successful candidate will play a key role in the commercial management of projects from pre-construction through to final account, ensuring robust cost control, risk management, and value delivery.
The role offers a unique opportunity to work on one of the largest pipelines of construction projects currently in Scotland, including involvement in the fast-growing and cutting-edge Data Centre market. Key Responsibilities Commercial & Financial Management
- Full commercial responsibility for one or more construction projects
- Preparation, review, and management of project budgets and cost forecasts
- Regular financial reporting, including CVRs and cash flow forecasting
- Implementation and maintenance of cost control procedures
- Management of risk, opportunity, and value engineering processes
Procurement & Supply Chain
- Preparing and managing procurement strategies aligned with project programmes
- Tendering, appointment, and management of subcontractors and suppliers
- Negotiation and agreement of subcontract orders and final accounts
- Ongoing commercial management of supply chain partners
Contract Administration
- Administration of construction contracts (e.g. JCT or similar)
- Assessment and agreement of interim valuations and payment applications
- Management of variations, extensions of time, and loss & expense claims
- Preparation and agreement of final accounts
Stakeholder & Team Leadership
- Acting as a key commercial point of contact for internal and external stakeholders
- Providing guidance and mentoring to junior commercial team members
- Supporting delivery teams with commercial input on complex and technically demanding projects
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, consultants, and supply chain partners
Skills & Experience Essential
- Significant experience in a Quantity Surveying role within a main contracting environment
- Proven experience managing projects through the full construction lifecycle
- Strong knowledge of standard forms of construction contract
- Excellent commercial awareness and financial acumen
- Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

- Experience on large-scale infrastructure, commercial, or technically complex projects
