Waracle are looking for a Senior QA for an exciting new role joining our world class digital technology consultancy and home to a diverse, smart, curious and ambitious community of specialists in technology driven transformation. We work with ambitious clients to help them solve their biggest business and customer challenges, helping them to innovate and create intelligent digital products and services.
We thrive on complex challenges and deliver business critical IT transformation projects, moving seamlessly from strategy, design, and delivery to operations.
This is a Hybrid role, working from our Glasgow or Dundee office 2 days a week.
The Role
As a Senior QA at Waracle, you won’t just be testing; you’ll be a quality advocate and a technical mentor. We are looking for a collaborative leader who enjoys defining QA approaches for complex features and implementing scalable automation frameworks. You’ll be a vital part of a team that values diverse perspectives, influencing developers to improve system testability and advising on long term test data strategies. If you are passionate about building quality in from the start and enjoy empowering others through mentorship, we’d love to hear from you.
Key aspects of the role include:
- Strategy & Risk: Defining QA approaches for complex features, integrating risk analysis, and leading exploratory testing efforts.
- Framework Architecture: Designing and implementing modular, reusable, and scalable automation components and integrating quality checks into CI/CD.
- NFR Integration: Independently designing and automating tests for performance, security, and accessibility within the development lifecycle.
- Technical Influence: Collaborating with developers to add appropriate logging and test hooks to improve system testability.
- Mentorship: Supporting and mentoring other QAs, providing constructive feedback through peer code reviews of test automation.
- Defect Leadership: Leading defect triage sessions and driving prioritisation based on business impact and business critical workflows.
- Community Growth: Running QA knowledge sharing sessions and owning community initiatives such as accessibility or regression standards.
What you’ll bring:
- Significant experience in designing automation frameworks and complex test strategies for both web and mobile applications.
- Mastery of manual and automated QA methodologies, with a tool agnostic approach and the ability to adapt to various frameworks.
- Expertise in non functional testing automation (Performance, Security, and Accessibility).
- Deep understanding of CI/CD integration, modular automation patterns, and AI driven data validation.
- Experience testing CMS driven platforms (ideally Umbraco) and an understanding of the architectural nuances of content management systems.
- Proven leadership and mentoring capabilities, with a demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and switch context effectively.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate quality risks into business and financial impact for stakeholders.
The Recruitment Process
- Initial Call: You’ll start with a chat with your dedicated Talent Partner about Waracle, your career goals, salary expectations, and our benefits.
- Two Stage Interview: You’ll then be invited to a two stage process to find out more about the role and showcase your skills and experience.
- Support: Your Talent Partner will guide you through the whole process right up to your first day.
