Senior Planning Engineer / Planning Manager
Skye OHL / UGC Project – Scotland
650 – 750 per day (Umbrella PAYE)
Initial 6-month contract Hybrid working
We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Planning Engineer or Planning Manager to support the delivery of the Skye OHL / UGC Project, a major energy infrastructure scheme in Scotland. This is a high-profile contract opportunity offering hybrid working and a competitive day rate.
This role will play a key part in the planning, scheduling, and reporting of complex works across overhead line (OHL) and underground cable (UGC) scopes, working closely with project and delivery teams to ensure programme certainty and successful project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, manage, and maintain integrated project programmes using Primavera P6
- Produce baseline, update, and recovery programmes as required
- Monitor progress, identify risks, and provide mitigation strategies
- Carry out critical path analysis and scenario planning
- Prepare and present programme reports, dashboards, and progress updates to senior stakeholders
- Support change control, delay analysis, and programme impact assessments
- Interface with engineering, construction, commercial, and client teams
- Ensure planning best practice and compliance with project controls standards
Requirements – Senior Planning Engineer
- Strong experience as a Planning Engineer on large-scale infrastructure or construction projects
- Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6
- Experience producing and managing detailed construction programmes
- Sound understanding of planning methodologies and project controls
- Ability to work independently and communicate clearly with stakeholders
- Energy sector experience (OHL, UGC, transmission, or utilities) is highly desirable
Requirements – Planning Manager
- Proven experience in a Planning Manager or Lead Planning role on complex infrastructure projects
- Expert-level Primavera P6 knowledge
- Experience leading planning functions and mentoring junior planners
- Strong stakeholder management and reporting skills
- Ability to manage multiple programmes and interfaces across delivery teams
- Energy or power transmission experience strongly preferred
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree-qualified in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline (preferred)
- Relevant professional accreditation (e.g. APM, CIOB, ICE) advantageous
- Demonstrable experience on major projects within energy, utilities, or heavy civil engineering

- Rate: 650 – 750 per day (Umbrella PAYE)
- Duration: Initial 6-month contract (with potential extension)
