Job Description

An inside IR35 opportunity exists for a competent Planner with recent experience creating and managing programs on projects that include utilities and in particular major powerlines.

This 6 month opportunity is based in Northern Scotland and requires for you to be based there.

Your duties will include

  • Planning & Scheduling Develop and maintain fully resourced, logically linked programmes across all project stages.
  • Interact daily with the project team advising and driving program milestones
  • Delivery Oversight Support the management and performance of contract programmes, ensuring alignment with commercial and operational objectives.
  • Critical Path & Change Management Identify project risks, analyse impacts, and implement mitigation measures with precision and confidence.
  • Reporting & Insights Provide regular planning updates, progress reports, KPIs, and strategic insights to project leadership.
  • Interface & Collaboration Work closely with Project Managers, Engineers, Commercial teams, and Clients to maintain alignment and drive outcomes.

Requirements for this opportunity includes –

  • Preferably a qualification in Engineering, Construction Management, or similar.
  • Proven experience in a planning role on major infrastructure/power lines/utilities or energy projects.
  • Proficiency in planning software such as Primavera P6 or Asta Powerproject, alongside Excel and reporting tools.
  • Knowledge of NEC3/NEC4 contracts, earned value analysis, QSRA, and TRA methodologies.
  • An analytical mindset with a sharp eye for programme risk and opportunity.
  • Strong communication skills to engage confidently with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Willing to base yourself in the north of Scotland for 6 months.
