Job Role: Senior MSK Physiotherapist Lower Limb, Sports & Rehabilitation

Salary: £45,000-£55,000 per annum, depending on experience

Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent Employed

Location: Inverness, Scottish Highlands

The Opportunity

Are you an experienced MSK Physiotherapist looking for a private practice role where you can genuinely develop your expertise in lower-limb rehabilitation, sports physiotherapy, biomechanics and gait analysis?

This is an exciting opportunity to join an established specialist clinic in Inverness and take a key role within its growing MSK and rehabilitation service.

You’ll inherit an existing musculoskeletal caseload, so this isn’t a position where you’ll be expected to spend months building a patient list from scratch.

The clinic has developed a particularly strong reputation within foot, ankle, lower-limb MSK and biomechanics, and you’ll work closely with specialist Podiatrists to assess, treat and rehabilitate patients across the whole lower limb, including foot and ankle, knee, hip and groin presentations.

There is also an exciting sports element to the position.

The clinic currently works with a professional football team to provide MSK and biomechanical services, with the intention for the successful Physiotherapist to become involved in this work.

Previous experience working with professional or elite athletes and medical teams would therefore be a significant advantage, but it is not essential. The clinic is open to developing the right Physiotherapist into this area.

The Clinical Environment

You’ll be joining a specialist private healthcare environment with access to services and technology including:

• 3D gait and running analysis

• MSK foot and ankle ultrasound

• Shockwave Therapy

• Custom orthoses

• Advanced biomechanical assessment

• Specialist Podiatry

• Lower-limb rehabilitation

• Sports injury rehabilitation

Rather than working as a standalone Physiotherapist, you’ll have the opportunity to collaborate closely with clinicians whose expertise lies in the foot, ankle, gait and biomechanics.

For a Physiotherapist with a particular interest in sports injuries, running injuries, foot and ankle rehabilitation or lower-limb MSK, there is significant scope to develop a real area of expertise.

What You’ll Be Doing

As the Senior MSK Physiotherapist, you’ll:

• Independently assess, diagnose and manage a varied MSK caseload

• Develop individualised, evidence-based rehabilitation programmes

• Manage foot, ankle, knee, hip and groin presentations

• Support patients through both acute and longer-term musculoskeletal rehabilitation

• Work collaboratively with specialist Podiatrists on complex lower-limb cases

• Use gait, running and biomechanical assessment findings to support rehabilitation planning

• Contribute to the continued development of the clinic’s MSK and rehabilitation pathways

• Provide high-quality patient education and exercise prescription

• Support active patients and athletes returning to sport and performance

• Have the opportunity to become involved in the clinic’s professional football MSK and biomechanics work

• Communicate and collaborate with other clinicians and, where relevant, sports medical professionals

Who We’re Looking For

We’re looking for an HCPC-registered Physiotherapist with strong MSK experience and the confidence to manage a musculoskeletal caseload independently.

You might currently be working within:

• Private MSK Physiotherapy

• NHS MSK services

• A Band 6 or Band 7 MSK Physiotherapist position

• Sports Physiotherapy

• Rehabilitation

• A multidisciplinary private healthcare clinic

You’ll ideally bring:

• Strong MSK assessment and rehabilitation skills

• Experience managing a varied musculoskeletal caseload

• A genuine interest in lower-limb MSK and rehabilitation

• Confidence with exercise prescription and progressive rehabilitation

• An evidence-based approach to clinical practice

• Excellent patient communication skills

• The ability to work both independently and collaboratively

• An interest in developing within biomechanics, gait, running or sports rehabilitation

Experience within professional sport, elite sport or working directly with athletes and sports medical teams would be a significant advantage, but isn’t essential.

Likewise, you don’t need to arrive as a ready-made foot and ankle specialist.

If you’re an experienced MSK Physiotherapist with excellent foundations and the potential to develop further within lower-limb, sports and biomechanical rehabilitation, the clinic is very open to helping shape that progression.
