Overview

Senior HR Advisor role providing a professional and comprehensive generalist Human Resources service to managers, staff and staff side representatives across the organisation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a professional and comprehensive generalist HR service to managers, staff and staff side representatives across the organisation.
  • Offer HR advice and support across a range of complex issues such as employee relations, terms and conditions of service, and employment legislation.
  • Contribute to the development of policies and procedures that meet best practice, current legislation and national policies, and support the wider team in policy training programmes.
  • Provide guidance and support for policy implementation and the delivery of policy training.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent professional qualification (CIPD or equivalent) with significant practical HR experience within a large organisation, preferably in the public sector.
  • Knowledge of employment legislation, HR policies, terms and conditions of service relevant to NHS staff and NHS Scotland Policies.
  • Ability to work on your own initiative, planning and organising your own workload.
  • Excellent communication, influencing, project and people management skills, with a creative approach to problem solving.

Working Arrangements and Changes

From 1 April 2026 the Agenda for Change full-time working week will reduce from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part-time hours will be reduced pro-rata. There will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.

From 1 April 2025, this post may require a different level of criminal records check. If the post is assessed as a regulated role, appointment will be subject to joining the PVG Scheme. Any changes will be confirmed by the Hiring Manager or Recruitment Team. Pre-employment checks will include entitlement to work in the UK.
