Engineering Manager North Scotland
Location: Aberdeen but covering North Scotland
Salary: £65K
I am currently working with a leading transport organisation that is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to oversee their engineering operations across North Scotland. My client is a well-established operator with a strong presence in the region and a clear focus on service delivery, safety, and innovation
This is a key leadership role, reporting directly to the Service Delivery Director, and offers the opportunity to take full responsibility for the engineering function across multiple depots.
PSV/HGV Engineering Manager Key Responsibilities:
- Take ownership of the engineering budget, ensuring effective cost management and reporting directly to the Service Delivery Director.
- Oversee all engineering operations across North Scotland, ensuring consistent and high-quality delivery of services.
- Utilise data from systems such as Tableau and EAMS to set and track weekly depot performance targets.
- Ensure daily Peak Vehicle Requirement (PVR) targets are met within agreed timeframes.
- Maintain site standards including security and facility upkeep.
- Provide operational data for budgeting purposes; monitor performance against budget and implement strategies to maximise delivery efficiency.
- Proactively manage and monitor vehicle breakdowns, ensuring thorough data collection and root cause analysis.
- Ensure full implementation and compliance with the Engineering Guidance Manual at depot level.
- Maintain accurate data and records to meet both statutory and internal requirements.
- Conduct regular staff reviews, including apprentices, to assess performance and identify training and development needs.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the engineering function, providing support and guidance to the wider team.
- Support Fleet Engineers in achieving targets set by senior leadership.
PSV/HGV Engineering Manager Key Requirements:
- A recognised technical qualification in HGV/PSV engineering.
- Proven experience in a similar engineering management role within the transport or logistics industry.
- Strong leadership and team management skills with a hands-on approach.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Commercially aware with strong business acumen.
- Competent in using operational and business software, including Microsoft Office and fleet systems.
- A proactive mentor with the ability to inspire and develop team members.
- Strong time management and organisational skills.
