Key Responsibilities:
- Key accountabilities for the role of Senior Site Engineer include, but are not limited to:
Management of the engineering team on site ensuring that planned works have been set out prior to works commencing and the team are carrying out their duties as per the contract
Ensure all necessary engineering equipment is in place and maintained
Contribute to production of as built of look ahead programme
Production of RAMS and ensuring RAMS and COSHH are in place for all works being undertaken
Ongoing review of drawings and specifications for buildability and production of RFI’s in a timely manner
Maintaining site survey control system
Creation of models as required and ensure engineering team are working to latest revisions
Ensure Safety is the number one priority, check works are being constructed in accordance with the approved safe system of work
Attend weekly site health and safety inspections
Coordinate with the Site Agent and Foreman / Works Manager to ensure accurate and timely setting out in advance of construction activities
Closely monitor the quality of the physical works to ensure compliance with the contract specifications and design. – review of ITP’s and check sheets
Ensure that NCR’s and NCR register are produced and updated
Ensure that site teams have accurate approved designs and drawings and that they understand the construction method and process in line with approved ITP
Ensuring that the drawings and specs being used are latest issue documentation and all other drawings have been superseded
Carry out regular and frequent control checks on works under construction to ensure compliance with the setting out and design
Agree with Site Engineer and Foreman standard setting out principals in terms of primary and secondary setting for nominal offsets etc to ensure maximum efficiency of resources
Ensure red line as built drawings are updated during the project
Complete take offs for materials and produce material requisition forms
Ensuring only approved materials are being used on site
Assist the commercial teams by providing accurate as built information.
Maintain an accurate site diary including photographic records of progress
Contribute to production of handover documentation
Monitor Engineers Reconciliations against budget
Undertaking any other reasonable duties as required
Working across projects on various sites, including overseas opportunties as required
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
Degree in Construction, Civil Engineering or related subject Working towards professional membership of an appropriate organisation e.g. ICE or CIOB (desirable) CSR/CSCS qualification or equivalent (desirable)
EXPERIENCE At least 5 years’ experience in a Civil Engineering role Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally Ability to successfully implement, maintain and ensure compliance of Health & Safety legislation Commercially aware of economies and efficiencies Experience of using AutoCAD or other equivalent software Experience working for Tier 1 Civil Engineering projects (desirable)
Skills & Knowledge
Demonstrable knowledge of complex civil engineering projects gained through first-hand experience Proven knowledge and skills in construction methods, health and safety, and legal regulations Skilled in monitoring construction progress and managing the project within budget and time constraints Good problem-solving skills with the ability to collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions Well-developed written/oral communication skills for reports and relationship building/maintenance Good IT skills in Word, Excel and Outlook
