Senior Electrical Engineer
Glasgow
Salary up to: 65,000 DOE!
Responsibilities of Senior Electrical Engineer:
- Contribute engineering design expertise for new systems and products and support the existing product line by addressing technical queries.
- Collaborate with internal departments, such as sales, supply chain, and production, to ensure optimal technical solutions are consistently delivered.
- Generate part numbers, bill of materials, and source appropriate components and materials as needed.
- Produce engineering documentation, including specifications, proposals, assembly instructions, testing procedures, certifications, and reports, as well as reviewing detailed manufacturing drawings and documentation.
- Ensure engineering solutions are delivered punctually, within budget, and in line with both engineering and company standards and processes, maintaining compliance with internal and external standards and regulations.
- Serve as the technical approver within the engineering team for all relevant drawings and documentation generated.
- When applicable, foster team engagement to build a resilient, high-performing, and diverse team culture.
- Where relevant, oversee a small team with responsibility for their performance, development, work allocation, and adherence to internal and external standards and regulations.
- Support team growth by implementing a competence framework, as well as training, development plans, and regular performance reviews.
What are we looking for in our next Senior Electrical Engineer?
- Strong skills in electrical and electronics design.
- Proficient in creating design calculations.
- Experienced with engineering design software and CAD tools.
- Knowledgeable about relevant design standards.
- Background in designing control systems using PLCs, with expertise in industrial automation interfaces (e.g., Profibus, CANbus, Ethernet).
- Understanding of IEC 61508 for critical applications in programmable systems.
- Advantageous experience in DC product design.
- Skilled in selecting cables, connectors, and penetrators.
- Experienced in high-voltage (HV) and low-voltage (LV) electrical system design and commissioning, including related calculations.
- Capable of designing power distribution systems.
- Competent in specifying, selecting, and managing traction battery systems up to 150 kWh.
- Knowledge of EMC-compliant electrical systems design.
- Proven experience as an electrical or product engineer.
- Familiarity with Product Lifecycle Management systems for managing engineering documentation.
- Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
- Knowledgeable in marine/defence standards and Classification Society rules (e.g., LR, DNV, DEFSTAN).
