Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual to lead the nursing team within ward 9 at Ninewells, a 16 bedded Vascular ward caring predominantly for patients within the sub-specialities of Vascular. The Senior Charge Nurse has clinical, professional and managerial responsibility for the ward on a 24-hour basis including all clinical and staff governance issues. The post-holder is responsible for maximising service provision, including the delivery of safe and effective clinical practice, ensuring that all local and national standards and key performance indicators are adhered to and met.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the nursing team within ward 9 to deliver safe, effective, person-centred care.
- Provide clinical and professional leadership with a focus on governance, quality improvement and patient safety.
- Ensure compliance with local and national standards and key performance indicators.
- Promote service development and maximise provision of care.
Qualifications and Experience
- Extensive post-registration experience in a relevant acute adult surgical area.
- Proven skills in leading and managing teams to develop staff to deliver high-quality care.
- Ability to provide a high standard of nursing care and to manage change through effective leadership.
- Ability to work effectively in a challenging environment and raise clinical standards of care.
- Coaching and clinical supervision may be provided to help build required leadership and management skills for the appropriate applicant.
- Registration on Sub-part 1: RN1 or RNA or Sub-part 2: RN2 of the UK NMC Register.
