Overview
NHS Scotland is hiring a Screening Officer to join the Scottish Bowel Screening Programme at Kings Cross Hospital in Dundee. This full-time, permanent role involves supporting the National Bowel Screening Helpline and handling administrative duties. A future relocation to Ninewells Hospital may be required.
Key Details
- Location: Kings Cross Hospital, Dundee (possible future relocation to Ninewells)
- Salary: £25,694-£27,900 per annum (Band 2, pro rata)
- Hours: 37 hours/week, Monday-Friday (rotational helpline coverage 8am-5pm)
- Contract Type: Permanent
- Visa Sponsorship: Not eligible under Home Office guidelines
Responsibilities
- Answer telephone calls, emails, and letters from screening participants
- Collate data from Health Boards and GP practices
- Perform general office duties and data input
- Maintain accurate records and support helpline operations
- Work independently and as part of a team
Requirements
- Previous experience in call handling and data entry
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Friendly, professional manner and interpersonal skills
- Willingness to learn and work without direct supervision
- Knowledge of healthcare environments (preferred but not essential)
- Must meet Healthcare Support Worker Induction standards and Code of Conduct
Additional Information
- NHS Scotland will reduce the full-time working week to 36 hours from April 2026 with no change in pay
