Job Description

School Support Assistant – welfare and office support at Tynecastle High School.

Salary: £26,806 – £27,032 (pro rate for part time and sessional). Hours: 27.5 per week, 39 weeks sessional. Working pattern: Monday to Friday.

Responsibilities

  • Primary point of contact for pupils who are unwell and require support, and staffing the school welfare desk.
  • Organise the school’s medical supplies and ensure the welfare room is fully equipped and maintained.
  • Administer the physical PPR’s (personal pupil records) and the transition of new files from feeder primary schools, as well as archiving old files.
  • Administer pupil medical plans and details of specific pupil medical requirements and medication.
  • Manage the school’s lost property and pupil lockers.
  • Provide support to the office team as and when required.

Qualifications and Requirements

The successful candidate will be required to become a trained First Aider, with training arranged upon joining the school.

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more outside the UK in the last 5 years, an overseas criminal record check will be required. Applicants must provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment will be subject to the outcome of both these pre employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
