Overview
As a School Crossing Patrol Officer, you will play a vital role in community safety by ensuring children and other members of the community safely cross the road at a designated point between specified times.
Responsibilities
- Ensure all children and community members safely cross the road at the designated point between specified times.
- Attend the patrol point daily at school opening and closing times in all weather conditions, including short notice during unscheduled school closures.
- Perform tasks during shift hours (08 15 and 02 25).
- Adhere to safe crossing procedures and company policies.
Qualifications
- No formal qualifications are necessary.
- Good road sense, knowledge of the Highway Code / Green Cross Code.
- Ability to cope in all weather conditions.
- Previous experience working with children is desirable.
Employment Details
Permanent part time, term time 38 week contract; hours mainly 08 15 and 02 25 each day.
Compensation
Annual salary £25,604.23 pro rata (equivalent to £13.64 per hour). Pay is annualised with equal instalments every four weeks.

Health & Safety
- Training in safe crossing procedures is provided.
- Complete an annual Occupational Health Surveillance Questionnaire and any required assessments.
- Obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland.
- Attend induction training day before starting in post.
