Road Surfacing Supervisor – South Scotland
As a Road Surfacing Supervisor, you will bring proven experience within the surfacing industry and be responsible for managing a range of surfacing contracts at site level.
Key responsibilities include:
Managing surfacing schemes across motorway and local road networks, ensuring full compliance with Health & Safety policies and procedures
Communicating effectively with gangs and Forepersons through daily briefings and regular on-site presence
Managing site paperwork and administrative tasks in line with business management systems
Planning and supervising site operations to ensure works are completed to specification and the highest quality standards
Identifying works outside the contract scope and reporting them to the Surfacing Manager or Quantity Surveyor
Optimising cost control and operational efficiency to achieve agreed budgets
Motivating and leading site teams to deliver high levels of performance
Developing and maintaining strong customer relationships
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate solid experience within the road surfacing industry and a strong track record of supervising site-based teams.
You will ideally have:
A valid CSCS qualification
SMSTS (preferred) or SSSTS (minimum)
Experience in asphalt and road laying, with a good understanding of the Specification for Highways Works and BS (phone number removed)
Experience delivering project work, including motorway schemes (desirable)
Proven experience supervising, developing, and motivating teams
Strong communication skills and the ability to engage effectively at all levels
A thorough understanding of and commitment to Health & Safety standards
Flexibility in your working approach, including night and weekend working when required
The ability to work independently as well as part of a team
A motivated, proactive, and professional attitude
