Job Description

Base location: Perth, Inverness or Argyll

Salary: £38,966 – £45,905 + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

Working pattern: Permanent Full Time

The role

As a Resilience Arborist Surveyor within the Tree Cutting team, you will manage a portfolio of stakeholder-driven work, undertaking risk assessments, surveys, and consents for resilience arboriculture activities near overhead lines.

This is a predominantly field-based role, requiring detailed risk assessments within Protection Zones to support ETR132 investment decisions.

You will

  • Survey the network to identify vegetation requiring management, negotiating robust consents/assents with landowners and external organisations, while maintaining accurate performance tracking and reporting outputs to the business.
  • Define the safest and most efficient work methods for each site, producing detailed work packs for utility arborists, including maps and supporting documentation.
  • Support the development of a best-in-class utility arborist team by carrying out auditing activities focused on safety, quality, and service delivery.
  • Coordinate and lead key site-based projects, including those involving complex or high-risk scenarios such as storm response.
  • Collaborate with the Resilience Project team, contributing detailed Protection Zone input at meetings to support cost effective, asset led investment decisions.

You have

  • A proven track record within the Arboriculture or Forestry industry, ideally as a qualified Surveyor holding Professional Tree Inspection (PTI) certification.
  • A strong understanding of electricity networks, with experience working around overhead power lines; climbing experience would be advantageous. Full training can be provided for the right candidate.
  • Comfortable working outdoors, with relevant NPTC certifications for chainsaw use and associated qualifications, including NPTC UA5.
  • Working knowledge of ENA Engineering Technical Report 132 (ETR132).
  • Competent in using IT systems and standard software packages such as Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, OneDrive, and Teams).

A full, current driving licence is essential as travel will be required.
