Position Overview
Registered Mental Health Nurse – Acute Psychiatric Unit (APU)
Job posted at Western Isles Hospital, Band 5. Salary range: £34,544 to £43,039 pro rata/per annum, plus £1,461 Distant Islands Allowance pro rata/per annum. Hours: 28.8 per week. Employment: Permanent. The APU is a 5 bedded acute admissions ward operating 24/7 with day and night rotational work.
Responsibilities
As a staff nurse the main duties will include:
- Assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care and treatment.
- Liaising with carers, other professionals and third sector services.
- Acting as named nurse for individual patients and taking charge of shifts.
- Working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team and demonstrating excellent communication skills.
- Applying up to date clinical practice in accordance with local and national guidelines (e.g., SPSP (MH .
- Participating in ongoing CPD activities and receiving regular clinical supervision and annual appraisals.
Qualifications and Experience
- Current registration as a registered nurse.
- Recent experience working in mental health services is essential.
- Strong team working ability and excellent communication skills.
