Job Description

Are you a Quantity Surveyor and keen to work for a business that truly values your input?

We are currently working with a progressive principal contractor, specialising in refurbishment projects across the housing sector throughout Scotland. Given projected growth, this contractor is looking to add another Quantity Surveyor to their specialist team on a development in Edinburgh.

This is an opportunity for someone to come in and make this role their own. Your primary responsibility will be to oversee a range of refurbishment projects. The role is varied and exciting and you can be assured that no two days will look the same.

Key responsibilities include:

  • The complete financial and contractual control of the projects/accounts assigned.
  • Forecasting, monitoring and reporting accurately on every project.
  • Advising and guiding on all contract and commercial issues.
  • Maintaining high-quality financial control systems.
  • Compilation of weekly, monthly and quarterly reports as required.
  • Responsibility for all cost control procedures, including managing and controlling the budget and valuations by always updating the estimated final costs, and having the ability to show absolute cost and value reconciliation.
  • Analyse and report on costs and cash flow using the support systems available.
  • Processing of staff wages for allocated projects.

We are looking for individuals with a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills and outstanding commercial acumen to help the business drive excellence and ultimately help the business achieve its growth targets.

Previous experience in a surveying/estimating role is required as is a relevant industry qualification. It would be highly desirable for you to have some experience working in the refurbishment sector, but this is not essential.

In return, you will find yourself working for a growing ’employee-centric’ business where hard work is valued and rewarded, a business that understands its responsibility to invest in the next generation through offering regular apprenticeships and personal development programmes that can be tailored to individual career goals. Hybrid working is also offered with this position.
