Job Description

Our client is a leading Scaffolding contractor based in West Lothian and due to growth, they have a requirement for an additional Quantity Surveyor. Our client is part of a big group of companies and and can offer career progression to the right Quantity Surveyor.

A Scaffolding background is not necesary, applicants with Quantity Surveying experience within the construction industry will all be considered.

Job overview

As a Quantity Surveyor (QS) you will bewill be responsible for managing costs relating to our scaffolding projects, from the initial enquiry to the final account.

The QS should seek to enhance value for money, while still achieving the required standards and quality.

You will need to be familiar with the processes of estimating and tendering, preparation and submissions of applications and subcontractor cost value reconciliation (CVR).

Job Description

Managing costs on a variety of building projects, which will be assigned to you by your line manager

Undertaking costs analysis for scaffolding work

Assisting in building relationships with clients

Undertaking risk analysis and feasibility studies

Assisting with the preparation of tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities

Production of financial reports (cost value reconciliation)

Valuing completed work and processing payments for supply chain

Understanding the implications of health and safety requirements

Attending team meetings and client meetings when required

Carrying out any administrative duties relating to your work

Liaising with clients and consultants at all levels ensuring that you represent the Company in a professional manner at all times.

Able and willing to travel to projects on sites when required.

Ensuring you remain updated as to any commercial, legal or educational progresses or changes that may affect your role as a QS and to report these changes or influences to your line manager.

Working with Contract and Site Managers to ensure that staffing hours are correctly monitored and recorded.

Carrying out any other reasonable duty/task needed for the proper execution of your role and the needs of the Company as and when requested by your line manager.

Key Skills

Previous experience as a QS.

Self-motivated with the desire to develop a career in a progressive Company.

Good negotiation and communication skills.

Experience in working in a construction or scaffolding environment.

Has experience of negotiating contract terms with clients and contractors.

create monthly applications and dispute resolution to ensure cash flow.
