Our Dunfermline-based client is seeking a qualified and commercially minded Finance Manager / Accountant to take full ownership of the organisation’s finance function and act as the primary financial lead to the CEO.
This is a business-critical appointment. The successful candidate will be responsible for interpreting financial performance, providing clear insight and foresight to senior leadership, and ensuring the business is making informed, data-driven decisions. While elements of financial analysis will be supported by an outsourced team, this role retains full accountability for oversight, interpretation, reporting, and investment insight.
This position offers a clear pathway into a long-term senior finance leadership role as the organisation continues to stabilise, evolve, and grow.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the lead finance professional for the business, reporting directly into the CEO.
- Take full ownership of the finance function, ensuring robust controls, accurate reporting, and financial integrity.
- Interpret financial data and management information, translating numbers into clear commercial insight for senior leadership.
- Prepare and present monthly management accounts, cash flow forecasts, and performance analysis.
- Provide forward-looking visibility on funding requirements, cash position, and financial risk, with early warning where required.
- Oversee and liaise with an outsourced financial analysis team, ensuring outputs are accurate, relevant, and aligned with business needs.
- Review historical financial data, identifying issues, risks, or inconsistencies and implementing corrective actions where required.
- Support investment decisions, budgeting, and longer-term financial planning.
- Strengthen and modernise finance processes to support operational stability, change, and growth.
- Ensure compliance with statutory reporting, accounting standards, and internal governance.
Essential Experience We’re looking for someone who:
- Is qualified (ACCA / CIMA / ACA) or highly qualified by experience with strong demonstrable capability.
- Has experience operating as the senior finance lead within an SME or similar environment.
- Is confident analysing, interpreting, and challenging financial information, not just producing it.
- Can communicate complex financial data clearly to non-finance stakeholders, including at CEO level.
- Is commercially astute, detail-driven, and comfortable uncovering and resolving financial issues.
- Brings confidence, credibility, and structure to a finance function.
