Salary: £26,806 – £27,032 (pro rated for sessional and part time)

Hours: 27.5 per week, 39 weeks sessional

Working pattern: Monday to Friday

Location & Background

Tynecastle High School is a six year comprehensive secondary school serving west central Edinburgh with distinction for over 100 years. The school moved to a new site in January 2010 and offers first class educational facilities. It draws learners from Balgreen, Craiglockhart, Dalry and Stenhouse Primary Schools and has a roll of around 850 pupils.

Students are supported across a wide range of subjects and for SQA exams at all levels. The school has a strong record of pastoral care and promotes student welfare. A bank of strategies supports the successful integration of pupils with a wide range of needs and abilities into the curriculum.

Role Summary

We are looking for a conscientious, committed candidate who has an ability to build strong, supportive relationships with pupils who require additional support in the classroom and working 1 to 1.

Key responsibilities include supporting pupils with a wide range of needs and abilities, assisting teachers, managing small classroom groups, and providing individual support where required.

Qualifications & Experience

Preferred experience working with pupils requiring additional support and a background in inclusive education. A proven ability to build supportive relationships and deliver individualised support is essential.
