Job Description

Pupil Support Assistant (Fixed Term, until 29/06/2027)

Position: Portobello High School. Salary: £26,806 – £27,032 pro rate (part time/sessional). Hours: 27.5 per week, 39 weeks sessional.

The City of Edinburgh Council invites applications for a Pupil Support Assistant. You will work as part of a team, receive training opportunities and support children and young people. Experience in a school is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Work as part of a team in support of pupils.
  • Support children and young people in learning and personal development.
  • Receive training to enhance support skills.
  • Participate in holiday hub provision during school holidays (if selected).

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Desirable: prior experience working in a school.
  • PVG scheme membership (or update) and, if applicable, overseas criminal record check.
  • Regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.
  • Mobility clause: may be moved to a different school in the future.

Working Conditions

The role is part time, 27.5 hours per week for 39 sessional weeks. Salary is paid over 12 equal monthly payments. Successful candidates may also work in holiday hub provision during the 12 weeks of school holidays.
