The role
An opportunity has arisen for a full time Fixed Term / Secondment for 9 months to cover maternity leave. This role is based within the Personality Disorder and Homelessness Team, a city wide team based in NW Glasgow, working in various locations within GG&C. The role involves delivering mentalisation based treatment (MBT) service, reflecting practice and providing training. Applicants should have training in one of the core mental health professions and will be supported to develop their knowledge and skills as a therapist and work towards MBT practitioner level. Experience working with personality disorder and in homeless settings is desirable. The post contributes to the Health efficiency & access to treatment targets (HEAT) as part of secondary care services within a stepped care/matched care model.
This post requires membership of Disclosure Scotland’s PVG Scheme.
Duration, location and working pattern
- Location based in Partick Community Centre for Health
- Fixed term contract until March 2027
- Full time position (36 hours per week)
- Shift pattern for this post are Monday Friday, 9am 5pm
- This post may be considered on a secondment basis
Key responsibilities
- Functioning as named therapist within a multi disciplinary team for a complex patient caseload requiring specialist mental health care, undertaking named practitioner responsibilities for patients requiring care coordination where required.
- The holistic assessment of complex care needs including risk assessment, planning, implementing and evaluating specialist programmes of care with specific reference to MBT.
- Carrying out all relevant forms of care pertinent to the needs of individual patients in the least restrictive and disruptive manner as possible.
- Identifying, coordinating and responding to health promotion needs of patients focusing on improving the mental and physical well being of patients.
- Identifying, coordinating and responding to the needs of patients which might be related to vulnerability, gender, health, domestic abuse, adult/child protection and/or self harm.
- Developing therapeutic relationships with patients and carers with complex/unstable care needs ensuring that needs are identified and met within a participative framework demonstrating principles of equality, dignity and respect accounting for spiritual and cultural diversity.
- Working within agreed competency based parameters undertaking evidence based psychological therapies/psychological approaches to care with individuals and/or group settings.

Qualifications, training and experience required Essential
- Professional qualification in one of the core mental health professions or equivalent practitioner training and experience in a relevant discipline, e.g.
- Level 1 Registered Nurse in mental health with a currently valid registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council
- Occupational Therapist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council
- Social Worker registered with the Scottish Social Services Council and significant post registration experience
- Educated to minimum degree level or equivalent
- Completion of evidence based psychological therapies/psychological approaches to inform clinical practice
- Specialist knowledge and application of mental health care (including physical healthcare)
- Specialist knowledge and application of risk assessment/factors impacting on mental health, mental illness, wellness and recovery
- Evidence of active and ongoing CPD
Desirable
- Actively working towards postgraduate level or equivalent
- Completed a recognised mentorship preparation programme or registered mentor
