Job Description

Project Manager – Decom project

Location: Aberdeen

Permanent Position, 5 days a week in office

Key Responsibilities Project & Commercial Management

  • Manage full project lifecycle accountability, including budgeting, cost tracking, forecasting and financial reporting
  • Ensure projects are delivered within agreed financial parameters while identifying opportunities to enhance value
  • Administer contract requirements and ensure commercial interests are maintained throughout delivery
  • Identify scope changes and manage variations, ensuring proper documentation, pricing and client agreement
  • Collaborate with finance functions to maintain accurate and timely reporting

Technical Oversight

  • Apply strong technical understanding to oversee offshore operations and challenge proposed solutions where required
  • Review engineering outputs including procedures, risk assessments and technical documentation
  • Support selection of equipment, tools and methodologies to ensure safe and effective delivery
  • Provide guidance to engineering and offshore teams when technical issues arise

Project Delivery & Coordination

  • Develop detailed execution plans covering scheduling, resourcing and logistics
  • Coordinate mobilisation of personnel, equipment and third-party suppliers
  • Drive project execution from planning through offshore operations to final close-out
  • Promote and enforce high standards of health, safety and environmental compliance at all stages

Stakeholder & Team Leadership

  • Act as the primary liaison with clients, maintaining clear and professional communication
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams, fostering collaboration across functions and locations
  • Manage stakeholder expectations through proactive communication and problem-solving
  • Maintain risk registers and ensure mitigation strategies are actively managed
  • Conduct post-project reviews to capture lessons learned and improve future performance

Skills & Experience

  • Background in a relevant technical discipline such as subsea, mechanical, electrical, hydraulic or marine operations
  • Degree in engineering or a related field is advantageous
  • Professional project management qualification (e.g. PMP, PRINCE2, APM or equivalent)
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects within offshore, energy or heavy industrial sectors
  • Track record of delivering technically demanding projects within cost and schedule constraints
  • Experience working within matrix organisations and leading teams without direct authority
  • Familiarity with project planning tools such as MS Project or Primavera
