Westlakes Recruit are currently recruiting for an experienced project controls manager with a track record in major defence/nuclear projects to be engaged on a contract basis in Glasgow (Hybrid working will be supported).
Job Overview:
Project Controls Manager will be responsible for:
Providing leadership and direction to the Project Controls community for the project(s) that they are assigned. Working with the project’s partners and subcontractors to furnish the Project Manager with a consolidated view of project status, key metrics and resource capacity plans, ensuring schedule milestones, risks, issues, controls and benefits are monitored and reported through suitable processes.
Key Responsibilities:
To provide, maintain, govern, and assure cost and planning engineering functions and service to support the achievement of the project performance objectives.
To ensure compliance with company and client standards (management plans) and contract requirements (NEC 3) whilst providing governance, assurance, and general ‘oversight’ for cost and planning management.
To manage and, where necessary, support and train personnel in the completion of period end updates and their communication to internal and external customers and major stakeholders
To ensure that delivery plans are resourced and cost loaded initially – whilst maintaining the synchronisation of planning and cost data throughout the life of the project / programme.
Ensure that cost reports are compiled and submitted to the required company and client standards and that period end reporting is undertaken in compliance with the contract (at project and programme levels).
Manage the production, maintenance and monitoring of integrated scope, cost and schedule baselines & underpinning data at the appropriate level of detail
Ensure that schedules are compiled and submitted to the required standards and that monthly reporting is undertaken in compliance with the contract (at project and programme levels).
Manage the production, maintenance and monitoring of integrated scope, Planning and schedule baselines & underpinning data at the appropriate level of detail.
Ensure adherence to the risk process providing estimate and schedule support for project level risk management support (specifically, QSRA).
Undertake checking of all estimates, schedules and reports prior to issue.
Supervise the project’s PC personnel in the discharge of their duties and set expectations of the standard of the delivery service.
Manage the planning and programme process by closely monitoring and controlling the development and implementation of the programme and checking completeness of supply chain packages.
Set standards, through liaison with business functions, to ensure compliance with existing policies and practices and meet expectations of the stakeholders – accept and promote potential challenges with the intention of striving for improvement.
Key Requirements:
Knowledge/Skills
Proficient in Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project & Excel
BSc level qualification in an engineering construction related discipline (advantageous)
Association with a professional Project Management Institution
Knowledge in the use of schedule integrity tools
Knowledge of risk management software and techniques
Proficient in the application of earned value management
