Nine Twenty Engineering & Manufacturing is delighted to partner with a prominent client in the process industry in their need for a talented Production Manager. Our client is a leader in bio-technology, committed to transforming low-value by-products, residues, and waste into high-value green chemicals through an innovative, patented technology. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to global sustainability efforts by driving the success of the UK s first facility of its kind.

The Role:

As the Production Manager, you will oversee the daily operations of the manufacturing plant, focusing on the safe and efficient production of green chemicals. Leading a dedicated team of 13 Process Operators, you will ensure adherence to safety standards and regulatory requirements while continuously seeking improvements in processes and performance.

This role is crucial for the seamless operation of the plant, and you will also act as the deputy for both the Head of Manufacturing and the Supply Chain, ensuring consistent operational excellence across the site.

Responsibilities:

  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure all environmental and safety regulations, including SEPA standards, are strictly followed.
  • Leadership & Team Management: Manage and develop a team of 13 Process Operators, focusing on performance, skill development, and safety.
  • Production Oversight: Lead the daily production processes, ensuring that all activities align with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and safety protocols.
  • Operational Excellence: Drive continuous improvements in efficiency, quality, and safety through data-driven analysis and problem-solving.
  • Documentation & SOPs: Maintain up-to-date SOPs and Risk Assessments, ensuring compliance and safety standards are met.
  • On-Call Leadership: Provide on-call support to address any issues that arise outside of regular working hours.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a manufacturing or process industry role, ideally within chemical or pharmaceutical sectors.
  • Strong leadership abilities, with a track record of managing teams and driving operational performance.
  • Familiarity with process control systems, such as PCS7 SCADA or similar
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with experience in Root Cause Analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong communication and organizational abilities, with the capability to manage multiple priorities.
