Job Description

Large manufacturing company looking for a process engineer in the Fife area of Scotland

My client is a highly successful manufacturing business in the Fife region, they are looking for an experienced process engineer with a mechanical background.
Purpose of Job:
Provide Product Design Engineers with process feasibility and optimisation ideas and tooling designs / estimates. Provide production with procedures, technical support, equipment design and selection. The ability to be a good overall thinker, and be able to assist in solving technical problems within the process is a real benefit to this position.

Tasks:
Project Related
• Assist with design project specific tooling and test fixtures where required.
• Prepare tooling estimates for quotations in collaboration with Product Design Engineers.
• Support Product Engineers for the preparation of labour estimates for quotations.
• Check feasibility and write production procedures for new build products.
• Design project related test equipment.
• You will be able to advise on the processing of efficiencies within the process.
• Responsible for process optimisation and contributing to product optimisation.

Production Related
• Responsible for tool and equipment design, selection, commissioning, and maintenance.
• Provide technical assistance to Production Operators and Inspectors.
• Liaise with external tool and equipment suppliers.
• Liaise with Admin for tool and equipment purchase.
• Production transfer activities within the group.

Other
• Any other related duties that may be required from time to time.
• The role is more problem-solving than driving a CAD station
• Manex assessments / initiatives / continuous improvements.

Qualifications and Experience:
• HNC Mechanical Engineering, 2-3 years in a similar manufacturing industry. Experienced 3D CAD user and skilled in mechanical design principles.
Special Requirements:

• Ability to prioritise and remain flexible.
• High degree of autonomy.

Special Circumstances:
Occasional travel to customer premises for technical meetings and trial fits. Occasional travel to other group subsidiaries to aid with product transfer.
