Overview

This is an opportunity for a clinical/neuropsychologist to be part of a specialist multidisciplinary team within the West of Scotland Major Trauma project, aiming to improve trauma care locally, regionally and nationally.

The Clinical/Neuropsychologist will be a key member of the major trauma rehabilitation team and will lead the development of the psychological approach for patients with major trauma. Based at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, the post holder will support the work of the multidisciplinary team on the acute major trauma ward and support transition to rehabilitation services. They will provide highly specialist clinical neuropsychology services to patients admitted under the major trauma remit and work with patients and families to assess, formulate and develop intervention plans.

The post holder will provide psychological care from acute admission through rehabilitation to the community, advise staff on psychological management, work with patients and families, and contribute to developing the major trauma team approach to psychological care.

The psychologist will be part of the wider regional neuropsychology service providing acute and rehabilitation to patients with neurological disorders in NHS GGC and regional services. The service has links with University of Glasgow and CPD/research is encouraged.

Qualifications and requirements

  • Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and HCPC registration.
  • Advanced knowledge of neuropsychological assessment tools and interpretation (desirable).
  • Experience in a neuropsychology/rehabilitation service (advantage).
  • Organised, flexible, and able to respond to changing service needs.
