Job Description

CB&I is seeking a Structural Designer 2 – Contractor for 6 months based in Aberdeen, UK.

Scope of Services

  • Provide technical expertise for the structural design of new infrastructure and modifications to existing infrastructure for the energy sector.
  • Provide technical information to support estimates for project work scopes.
  • Provide input to progress and planning meetings as required.
  • Provide technical expertise to the resolution of technical queries ensuring that all design changes are captured by the change control process.
  • Conduct site surveys on offshore or onshore assets.
  • Participate in design reviews, constructability reviews / HAZIDS.
  • Provide checking and approval of structural drawings, complete interdisciplinary checking of documents where necessary.
  • Interface with other disciplines, clients and third parties on technical project issues.
  • Provide a level of technical support that satisfies the appropriate Asset Safety Case and that the PFEER performance standards ensuring they are not compromised by any discipline engineering activities.
  • Compliance with company engineering procedures, industry, international and client codes and standards.
  • Ensure that all work complies with the Contract Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality policies and procedures as appropriate.
  • Provide technical assurance and oversight on structural design scope.
  • Coordinate structural design resource in line with project requirement.
  • Prepare structural general arrangement drawings.
  • Prepare structural deconstruction drawings.
  • Prepare installation methodology drawings/documents.
  • Prepare construction workpack input.
  • Prepare presentations, sketches etc. to assist in scope communications.

Skills & Experience

  • Computer literate in Microsoft Office applications and relevant discipline specific software (AutoCAD 2D & 3D, PDMS, LFM, Recap Pro, Simulate).
  • Ability to investigate and interpret data.
  • Willing to travel offshore/site and capable of completing site surveys.
  • Experience within the Oil & Gas or Petrochemical Industry is preferable but not essential.
  • Suitable design experience within other engineering industries will be considered where appropriate.
