Opportunity – Principal Contracts Engineer – Decommissioning & Wells
Location: Aberdeen Duration: 2 year contract Contract Type: PAYE Day Rate: TBC – please provide your PAYE day rate banding expectation. Valid right to work in the UK required.
Key Responsibilities
- End to end Contract Lifecycle Management for Decommissioning and Wells. Provide deep knowledge and ensure value maximised throughout the category and contracting process.
- Work with senior internal stakeholders and external third parties to improve value and position SCM as a positive partner.
- Develop and implement robust strategic sourcing strategies, assess category and project opportunities and deliver breakthrough results.
- Partner with business stakeholders to support delivery of annual contracts plan and meet regulatory requirements.
- Lead contract and category plans, manage contracting activity across the category, and involve line managers where required.
- Negotiate commercial terms, negotiate with major suppliers, lead competitive tenders and apply judgement on contractual risk.
- Support complex negotiations through data and market analysis, draft and obtain agreement to highly significant commercial contracts.
- Lead supplier engagement through appraisal, performance monitoring, value analysis and continuous improvement.
- Resolve contractual and supplier disputes, consult legal team when required and manage contractual risk.
- Identify fee seeking opportunities, forecast future expenditure and contribute to budget and cost saving initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with contract terms, legal, commercial, ethical and risk standards.
- Maintain accurate and secure records within the information systems required.
- Develop and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders, ensuring requirements are understood and communication is clear.
- Promote and support safety, compliance and company standards.
About You – Key Qualifications & Experience
- Deep understanding of Decommissioning and Wells categories.
- Comprehensive knowledge of end to end Contract Lifecycle Management, market insight and business partnering.
- Experience with complex, high criticality categories and maximising value to the business.
- Track record of transformational value delivery through innovative sourcing strategies, continuous improvement plans and demand management.
- Ability to design, coordinate and lead complex, category wide improvement projects.
- Proficiency with company business tools – SAP, MS packages, Ivalua.
- Leadership of contract and performance management and supplier negotiation.
- Strong commercial, law, dispute resolution and contract expertise.
- Degree educated or equivalent experience; MBA, Bachelor’s in Supply Chain Management, Business or Finance preferred.
- Familiarity with MCIPS or equivalent professional certification.
- Demonstrated ability to lead complex contract negotiations and to manage commercial and contractual risk.

Working Arrangement
Hybrid office based arrangement: 4 days per week in office (Tuesday to Thursday mandatory, the fourth day either Monday or Friday). Remote work is possible on remaining days.
