Personal Assistant/Support Worker – 10/Dalry/AF 29/04/2026 Personal Employer Dalry

Title: Personal Assistant/Support Worker (Part time)

Hours: 10 hours per week (40 hours over a 4 week period)

Days/Hours: Flexible; may include weekend work – discuss at interview.

Pay: £14.59 per hour

Location: Dalry (family home)

Responsibilities

  • Provide support and companionship to a young woman with Autism, maintaining confidentiality.
  • Encourage and accompany her to community activities such as bowling, cinema, coffee/lunch outings, and more.
  • Assist in attending drama classes at CentreStage in Kilmarnock and support her enjoyment of TV dramas and soaps.
  • Support her volunteering with animals; must be an animal lover, especially cats.
  • Help with personal grooming: hair, makeup and nails.
  • Support life skills development including shopping, budgeting, meal preparation and cooking.
  • Oversee medication management, including prompting and record keeping (Medication Training required).

  • Calm, supportive, proactive and encouraging in a positive way.
  • Reliable, trustworthy, with strong communication skills.
  • Possesses similar interests to foster conversation about her hobbies.
  • Good knowledge of social media.
  • Good understanding of anxiety and the ability to recognize or provide support with its symptoms.

Training

  • Medication training (prompting and record keeping) – provided by the employer.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience supporting young adults with Autism (preferred).
  • Good understanding of anxiety and the ability to recognise or provide support with its symptoms.
  • Valid driver’s licence; ownership of a car and business insurance.
  • Travel allowance will be provided; mileage costs covered for work related travel.
  • Must undergo a new PVG Disclosure (or update) and provide two reference contacts prior to appointment.
  • 6 month probationary period with 1 week notice if the role does not work out during that period.
