Position Overview
We are looking for a temporary Harvest Operator at our Crisp Malt, Portgordon site. The role will be required until mid October. The Harvest Operative is responsible for testing of raw and finished material, weighing and data entry for vehicle intake and dispatch, and coordinating outgoing material.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with the site team to ensure grain is of the required quality at intake.
- Ensure accurate and precise testing of raw material.
- Cover weighbridge operations during available hours and input tickets from the previous day.
- Assist with the loading and dispatch of finished malt product and feed.
- Carry out sample testing at pre steep, malt, pellet and bulk, and prepare sample collections.
- Rotate and maintain sample storage.
- Work with the Intake Manager to ensure weighbridge and equipment are maintained and calibrated regularly.
- Support with administrative tasks, including cleaning schedules and shift handover documents.
- Work with site management to ensure compliance with health and safety procedures and improve site safety.
- Ensure weighbridge area is clean and tidy and complies with health and food safety regulations.
- Perform accurate and precise testing of each raw material delivery against pre determined specifications.
- Complete thorough checks of representative load samples to identify any detrimental attributes that could cause storage or processing issues or pose a food safety risk.
- Ensure incoming grain is tipped in the correct locations and each load is delivered with the correct paperwork.
- Maintain the grain management system with current information and store samples for 24 months in a sealed vessel.
- Direct vehicles to the correct loading location and check bulk loading for cleanliness.
- Ensure dispatch paperwork is complete and correct.
- Maintain equipment for weighbridge and laboratory in good condition, cleaned regularly, and report any breakages to the Line Manager.
- Work with the IT department to keep computer systems operational.
- Report identified hazards, near misses, and accidents to the Line Manager promptly.
- Report any breaches in Crisp procedures to the Line Manager promptly.
- Assist with cleaning tasks around the site as required and provide support to other areas during reduced intake periods.

Qualifications & Eligibility
- Ability to work cooperatively with others and independently.
- Ability to work within a fast paced environment to meet process timings and quality requirements.
- Flexible approach to working hours.
- Strong communication skills.
- Full, clean UK driving licence.
Desirable
- Experience working within maltings.
- Fork lift truck licence.
- Relevant weighbridge and/or laboratory experience.
- Understanding of the safe use of chemicals.
