Operations Manager – Vegetation Management

South Lanarkshire, Scotland – Monday to Friday – £50,000 basic + Minimum £5,000 Bonus + Pickup Truck + Private Healthcare + Laptop & Mobile

The Job:

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Operations Manager to take charge of a growing depot in South Lanarkshire, Scotland, working within the commercial vegetation management sector. This role offers the chance to lead a dedicated team while playing a key role in the delivery of major infrastructure related contracts.

The Company:

This well established business is recognised as a key player in the commercial grounds and vegetation management sector. Known for its reliable service and forward thinking approach, the company continues to expand and is looking for a committed individual to take ownership of a strategically important depot.

The Role:

Reporting directly to senior leadership, you will manage the day to day operations of the depot, ensuring the smooth and efficient delivery of services while leading a team of 12+ staff including a Contracts Supervisor, Team Leaders, Operatives, and Tractor Drivers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all aspects of depot operations and service delivery
  • Coordinate work schedules, logistics, and equipment usage
  • Recruit, mentor, and support staff development
  • Ensure machinery and vehicles are maintained and compliant
  • Manage client relationships and seek opportunities to enhance contracts
  • Monitor performance via internal digital systems
  • Maintain accurate documentation, reports, and contract records
  • Deliver work safely, on time, and within budget
  • Maintain a commercial focus to support growth and profitability

The Candidate:

  • Proven leadership and team management experience
  • Understanding of operational planning and equipment maintenance
  • Familiarity with digital contract tracking or CRM systems
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Commercial awareness with the ability to identify efficiencies
  • Self starter with an entrepreneurial mindset and a drive to grow the depot
  • Flexible and open to occasional travel or overnight stays

The Package:

  • Basic salary of £50,000, with a minimum £5,000 performance bonus
