The Role

As an Operations Manager, you’ll be at the heart of our night operation, leading warehouse, transport, and van network performance. Working any 5 nights over 7 (typically 22:00 – 09:00, depending on volumes), you’ll ensure the depot runs efficiently, safely, and on budget.

You’ll partner closely with Hubs, Transport, and Delivery teams to deliver an end-to end service, while supporting and deputising for the Depot General Manager. From managing costs and driving productivity, to developing your team and ensuring compliance-you’ll have the autonomy to make a real difference every shift.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver the depot operational plan in line with budget, forecasted volumes, and performance targets
  • Drive productivity and manage costs including labour, resource planning, and cost per unit (CPU)
  • Maintain high operational standards through compliance with 5S, H&S, and quality audits
  • Ensure high scanning compliance across inbound, outbound, and driver operations
  • Support transport compliance including driver rotas and Working Time Directive adherence
  • Lead and develop your team across recruitment, performance, engagement, and employee relations

  • Full UK Driving Licence, CPC National Certificate, and IOSH Managing Safely (or equivalent)
  • Proven experience managing large teams in a 24/7 fast paced logistics or operational environment
  • Strong understanding of transport regulations, SLAs, and operational processes
  • Confidence using Excel and MI tools to drive performance and decision making
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and people development skills
  • Resilience, commercial awareness, and the ability to perform under pressure
