What you’ll will be responsible
- Leading your team to deliver safe and reliable operations, ensuring safety, performance and business targets are met
- Driving continuous improvement by managing local operational performance, including delays, rosters and resource productivity
- Embedding the LNER Safety Plan, promoting a strong safety culture and ensuring incidents are managed effectively
- Planning and managing manpower, headcount and recruitment to support timetable delivery and operational resilience
- Taking ownership of budgets and performance targets, balancing cost control with safety and service quality
- Building strong, open relationships with local employee representatives, Network Rail and other Train Operating Companies
- Supporting contingency planning and disruption management to maintain high customer service standards
- Ensuring local operational plans are delivered, risks are managed and opportunities for improvement are identified

- Strong leadership and people management skills, with experience leading teams in a safety critical environment
- A proven track record of improving operational performance while maintaining high safety standards
- Commercial awareness with experience managing costs, resources and budget
- Clear and confident communication skills, with the ability to build trust and influence at all levels
- Experience managing incidents and leading teams through operational changes
Experience and qualifications
- Qualified Train Driver with a minimum of two years experience, holding a Safety Critical Work licence and Personal Track Safety
- Strong technical driving and incident response capability, with TOLO qualification and Competence Assessor experience desirable
- In depth operational knowledge of traincrew environments and rail industry standards, with strong organisational and negotiation skills
