Job Description

As part of a very exciting service development project, the General Surgery service, Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, are currently looking to expand their clinical team. This will support a system Test of Change around rapid access to General Surgical Services for patients across Grampian. We are now seeking a qualified Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) on a secondment basis for 9 months to join a well established team.

The ANP team provides assessment, care and treatment for patients across emergency receiving, elective and short stay wards, Surgical High Dependency Unit and the rapid access Surgical Ambulatory Clinic.

As an ANP joining this team you will be expected to work a 7 day rotational rota including weekends, and between the hours of . Maintaining and developing your advanced practice skills, knowledge and competence as well as supporting that of others within the team, will also be an expectation of you in this role.

You will hold a PgDip in Advanced Clinical Practice or equivalent (ANP) and have experience working in an ANP role.

We will consider applicants for trainee posts under Annex 21. The Nurse Manager and medical colleagues will support the development of individuals to meet advanced practice competencies through the triangulation approach of academic courses, mentorship and clinical supervision. Applicants for trainee posts should have demonstrated evidence of undertaking courses relevant to the advanced practice pathway.

As from 1/4/26, the Agenda for Change full time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro roa. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.
