Night Support Worker – Children’s Homes

Job Description

Overview

£30,849 – £33,896 depending on attendance. Hours: waking nights (4 on / 4 off). Working in our Children’s Homes involves supporting young people daily, sharing in their highs and lows, and helping them on journeys to wellbeing and independent adulthood. Night support workers enable young people to have a sense of security during the night, provide timely support when they wake, and help create pathways for positive futures. Our homes serve young people with social, emotional and mental health needs, and we aim to generate the best possible outcomes for the young people in our care.

Responsibilities

• Be present with young people at night and respond to needs as they arise, including situations involving trauma, illness, upset, or difficulty sleeping.
• Build a rapport and become someone the young people can trust in their time of need.
• Maintain the home during quieter times, including paperwork, cleaning and laundry.
• Contribute to a supportive and positive environment that respects each young person’s needs, personality and potential.

• Salary: Base salary of £29,449 – £32,496; Bonus: £1,400; Attendance allowance (assuming good attendance): £1,000; Welcome bonus £1,000 on completion of 6 months; £1,000 Loyalty Bonus after 12 months.

Who we’re looking for

• A ‘can do’ attitude and team spirit; willing to roll up sleeves to help others.
• Honesty and empathy; genuine care for young people and colleagues.
• Resilience to handle challenging situations.
• Full UK driving licence held for at least 12 months.
• If you don’t have a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent), we’ll support you to study.
• Initial role as a NSO with 4 weeks of off-the-job training through the Care Academy.
