An exciting opportunity has arisen for a position within the Medical Equipment Management Service at Western General Hospital to support the delivery of a medical equipment management service.
Medical Physics is recruiting an experienced electronic / electro mechanical service technician, graduates or technicians from other industry to work within healthcare science as a medical equipment technologist in the Medical Equipment Management Service. You will have a degree or technical HND or equivalent qualification in an electronics or medical engineering discipline, and experience of working within an electronic servicing role. We seek self motivated individuals who can work effectively within a team to ensure the day to day running of the service. Good interpersonal skills, flexibility and a methodical approach are essential. This post involves travelling and working at various hospitals and clinics across Lothian.
The Medical Equipment Management Service has a track record of developing staff to enhance career opportunities. With a clear focus on quality and patient services, you will join an enthusiastic multidisciplinary team and be trained to provide an equipment management service for a wide range of medical equipment. You will work across many clinical specialities, supporting the delivery of world class healthcare at four acute hospital sites and within the local healthcare community.
NHS Lothian serves a population of approximately 800,000 in a region covering 700 square miles, comprising the City of Edinburgh, Midlothian, East Lothian and West Lothian. It is an area of exceptional beauty and contrast, from the splendour of Edinburgh to the beauty and variety of the hills, countryside and coastline. The nearest major town outside Edinburgh is Livingston, a thriving location in the heart of West Lothian.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of a medical equipment management service across multiple hospitals and clinics.
- Perform electronic and electro mechanical servicing of medical equipment.
- Ensure the day to day running of the service and provide equipment support to clinical teams.
- Work effectively within a multidisciplinary team to provide high quality patient services.
- Travel to various hospitals and clinics within Lothian as required.
- Provide training to staff on equipment management and safe clinical use.
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to continuous improvement of the service.
Qualifications
- Degree or technical HND or equivalent qualification in electronics or medical engineering.
- Experience of working within an electronic servicing role.
- PVG Scheme membership or the ability to obtain one within a short time.
- Self motivation, team working ability and strong interpersonal skills.
- Flexible, methodical approach to technical tasks and problem solving.
- Willingness to travel to hospitals and clinics across Lothian.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe working environment and high patient safety standards.
Location & Travel
This role involves travelling and working at various hospitals and clinics in Lothian, supporting four acute hospital sites and the local healthcare community.
