Job Description
Network Field Engineer (Wi Fi) – Up to £400 per day Outside IR35 – 12 Month Contract – Edinburgh
One of Lorien’s key public sector clients is looking for a Network Field Engineer (Wi Fi) to join their team on an initial 12-month contract (Possible 12 month extension)
PLEASE NOTE – TRAVEL AROUND SCOTLAND WITH OWN VEHICLE IS REQUIRED
Key Responsibilities:
- Managing and supporting Wi Fi upgrade and refresh activity across multiple sites
- Working closely with IT teams, contractors and operational stakeholders across Scotland
- Supporting deployment and configuration of wireless systems and access points
- Identifying and documenting existing Wi Fi infrastructure within complex environments
- Understanding and supporting services delivered over wireless networks
- Tracing cabling from comms rooms and cabinets to access point locations
- Supporting best practice for stock management, AP configuration and testing
- Maintaining accurate records of installed and replaced access points
- Generating heat maps to assess wireless coverage and performance
- Working with installation contractors to survey, document installs and sign off completed work
Key Skills & Experience:
- Experience working with enterprise Wi Fi environments and access points
- Strong understanding of wireless networking concepts and infrastructure
- Experience supporting Wi Fi deployments, upgrades or refresh projects
- Ability to carry out site surveys and validate wireless installations
- Understanding of how LAN infrastructure supports Wi Fi delivery
- Strong documentation and organisational skills
- Ability to manage multiple site-based activities and work with stakeholders
- Experience working with 3rd party suppliers and installation partners
- Experience working in public sector or regulated environments is beneficial
